I have watched DB and DBZ since its beginning. Let's be serious here the goal of this movie was not to capture the approval of us die hard DB fans from the anime version. Of course its goal was to capture some of the essence of it, and they did stray far from the concept, but primarily they are trying to bring in a newer crowd. This movie was okay, with support the sequel to the movie can become far better. Bashing the movie and vowing not to support it will not bring in cash flow to create a sequel with better cgi effects. The story baseline has been set. Of course Goku wasn't killed but the sequel should resemble the actual story line better than this version. For those of you who complain about the chi chi and goku thing, get real. You know there is no way you just have a kid with someone without a single form of intimacy. Sticking strictly to the anime version would prove difficult to follow by non-DBZ viewers. Just chill out, they can get the support they need to bring in newer fans if you stop bashing the movie, and then comply to the wishes of the fans in the sequel (with the right support).

Why do you people defend this damn movie?! On it's own with a different title, character names, and a few more tweaks, it would be watchable but COME ON! Right were to start first it was an ok version of an evolved dragonball which was what fox was TRYING to do but FAILED miserably coz of the money, resources and the special effects they have at their desposal i mean come on the acter who plays picolo had betta makeup on him wen he was in buffy an he doesnt even look lyk picolo jeez wot the hell was fox doing. the major flaw was that goku is a saijin warrior and at the light of a FULL MOON he turns into the oozaro and i saw three full moons in this film so fox need to sort themselfs out. true goku was neva interested in girls specially chi-chi coz all he cared bout was his next fight or his friends NOT girls or marriage!! yamcha was useless so they could have made him abit betta specially wen he fout goku in the c-toons and master roshi wasnt the same character the pervert and his white hair and of course his beard. And picolo did have henchmen i think ur 4gotten tambourine. and picolo was first king picolo who was created from kami. shenron or shen-long was abit rubbish i was very dissapointed. i could go on but i would just rant to much, all i can say is to all db fans is i know how u all feel true dissapointment and new comers u dont know db dbz till u watch the c-toons
ok first of all dragon ball starts off when goku is a child and second ummm hello...goku never went to school much less made it to high school. he and chi chi had Gohan roughly around the age 18 and PICCOLO HAS NO HENCHMEN!!!! the whole thing pisses me off simply for the face that if your going to attempt an anime movie at least get the baseline of the characters right how the hell can goku be so innocent when they make him go into high school, he's supposed to be a carefree fun loving dense guy, another is master roshi isnt roshi without the pervertedness that is he. thank god they didn't decide to do one with vegeta because a certain friend of mine would go ballistic since it is her fav. character. devonkanis you are a friggin idiot because it doesn't follow the anime or the manga aside from the names, and yes piccolo kills goku but he never laid a finger on gohan (elder) because he was crushed to death when goku transformed under the full moon, lady death is right it is a disappointment to "real" fans.

kenpei is an idiot, first Goku was raised by his JAPANESE granfather. 2nd your still an idiot because any movie made after a show, game or book there are changes to make it more visually appealing. Its how it has always been. The original Batman with Michael Keaton was really good and won TONS of awards. So again your an idiot. So next time you want to make a comment do the rest of us a favor and don't.

Kenpei, FreeHugs is right about Goku being a japanese name. It's even used in more than one anime. There is also Gokusen which is about a bunch of boys in a boarding school and was later turned into a live action television show. Another example is Goku Dou High School, both having noting to do with Dragonball and both have nothing to do with each other. There's a reason why children are told to think before they speak but unfortunately for some the lesson never sank in.

I have never ever supported or thought Dragonball was cool or interesting. But I watched this movie and it was really good. My wife on the otherhand loves dragonball all of them the cartoons everything. Even she likes this movie. FreeHugs and Mimi got it right but kenpei is obviously an idiot because a japanese or american could be called Goku i mean people name there kids stupid shit all the time especially black people like shiniqua andshit. So first of all this is a good movie and people nowadays myself included can tend to be too critical of movies.
As a Hollywood Fantasy movie, I would give it a 2/10. BUT if u compare it to the original manga, or even the japaneese tv cartoon, it just SUCKS its completely wrong and different and changes the whole idea of the story of Dragonball. So comparing it with the original it gets a ZERO.

FreeHugs go fuck yourself also, as a movie, yeah, i guess its good, just, change the ridiculas names and some terminology, and it'd be enjoyable by all, but come on, not even a Japanese person would be called "GOKU" much less an American. This probably will get a sequel, but, much like the batman Movies in the 90's they're completly crapping on the franchise. and I wish these special effects guys would give up the bullet time in every fight scene, It was cool in the matrix, because it started it, but 5000 times later, its old. Overall, 2/5. If your gonna go to the movies, better off with Fast and Furious

I've also watched every db, dbz, dbz gt and movies as well. Dragonball Evolution is awesome IF & only if it is the first of many to come. There are so many ways the story can go on from the way DBEvolution: Goku's brother Radicks arriving on earth & Piccollo & Goku team up against him; Goku's death and his trainning on the 'other side with king kai; Piccollo training Gohan; Vegeta & Napa arrive on earth; then the Freiza Saga; Trunks showin up from the future; Cell Saga; Majin Buu....etc As you can see the list goes on and on. It just can't stop here in Evolution
I'm very disappointed. I guess it's good if you never watch the series but i have seen every db,dbz,dbz gt and this makes me upset
